This project establishes a comprehensive oil spill prevention and containment infrastructure across six large refueling berths at a Saudi Arabian port, covering a total area of 7,000 square meters.
Designed to meet stringent environmental and operational standards, the project integrates oil containment booms, absorbent materials, portable collection tank, oil skimmer and specialized vessel mooring equipments to prevent and manage potential oil spills during maritime refueling operations.
Key Project Components
1. Oil Containment Fence Boom
Floating PVC Oil Containment Booms: High-density polyethylene containment barriers will encircle all refueling zones.
2. Absorbent Materials:
Hydrophobic polypropylene pads (200 packs stockpiled) and oil absorbent booms (50 packs stockpiled) : Capture residual oil sheens, ensuring comprehensive coverage.
3. Oil Skimmer : Simple, dependable and effective machines for removing oil, grease and other hydrocarbons from water.
4. Mooring & Refueling Systems :Integrated sensors will track water quality and trigger alarms for immediate response in case of leakage detection.
By integrating advanced technology, robust infrastructure, and comprehensive safety protocols, this oil spill prevention plan aims to safeguard marine ecosystems while supporting the efficient and sustainable growth of maritime refueling operations in Saudi Arabia.
